The Brief
Telok Ayer was once home to many Chinese immigrants, which gave rise to many temples and clan associations within the area. Our task was to design a modern luxury brand identity for the hotel but still tying closely to the Chinese culture deeply rooted within the locale.

The Approach
The Clan Hotel, draws on the Chinese spirit of comradeship to welcome and integrate travellers into the hotel, like a modern version of a clan association. The traveller is invited to enjoy an experience exclusive to insiders when they stay with the hotel – marking a warmest homecoming to a foreign land.

Logo exploration

Drawing inspiration from the hotel's entrance, the logo symbolises the Chinese character “入”, which means 'to enter.' It also resembles the roof of the clans, representing the comfort and protection offered to all who enter The Clan Hotel.

A modern sans-serif font was meticulously crafted to harmonise with the logomark. The colour palette consisting of black, white, and copper was chosen not only to evoke a sense of understated luxury but also to reflect the hotel's facade and interior.
